Introduction of Function Classification of Health Food

In #3.1 of GB 16740-1997 General Standards for Health (Functional) Foods, Health (functional) foods are defined as “health (functional) food is one kind of food, has the common characteristics, can adust human body function, address to specified population, but not intended for cure diseases”. So the health food to be applied should have 3 nature: ①food nature; ②functional nature, have specified function; ③no drug nature. The function for the same kind of health food is not limited, however, not more than three function is suggested, as the more function, the more difficult to apply.
